Synastry starts with two separate natal charts
Each chart must be calculated correctly before they are compared. Birth date establishes the planetary sky, while exact time and place add the angles and houses that make a full overlay possible.
Relationship astrology
Astrology compatibility becomes more specific when it compares two natal charts rather than two Sun signs. Synastry looks at the aspects formed between one person’s planets and the other person’s chart, then adds angles and house overlays when accurate birth times make those layers available. AstroZora treats the result as a map of relationship dynamics, not a pass/fail test.
Quick reference
The point is not to label every contact good or bad. First identify which planets are interacting and which relationship theme that contact belongs to.
| Layer | Question | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Moon contacts | How do emotional patterns meet? | Useful for emotional connection, needs and instinctive responses. |
| Mercury contacts | How do the two thinking styles interact? | Useful for communication, interpretation and recurring misunderstandings. |
| Venus / Mars | Where does attraction or preference become visible? | Useful for affection, desire, chemistry and differences in relating style. |
| Saturn contacts | Where do weight, limits or durability appear? | Useful for long-term themes, responsibility and pressure. |
| House overlays | Where does one person activate the other chart? | Available only when the target chart has a reliable birth time and house structure. |
Each chart must be calculated correctly before they are compared. Birth date establishes the planetary sky, while exact time and place add the angles and houses that make a full overlay possible.
A synastry aspect forms when a planet in Person A’s chart has a major angular relationship to a planet or angle in Person B’s chart. AstroZora V1 prioritizes conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines and oppositions, using the same transparent orb methodology documented for natal aspects.
A Moon–Mercury contact can involve both emotional exchange and communication. A Venus–Saturn contact can involve attraction and longer-term themes. Grouping helps organize the result without pretending each category is independent or reducible to a percentage.
When a time is unavailable, AstroZora omits Ascendant and Midheaven contacts and house overlays. Planetary contacts can still be evaluated through uncertainty-aware sampling, with stable contacts labeled confirmed and time-dependent contacts labeled possible.
A chart comparison can contain both easy and difficult contacts. The same pair can show strong attraction and difficult communication, or emotional ease alongside long-term pressure. The purpose is to describe interaction patterns, not decide whether a relationship should continue.
Worked method
Imagine Person A’s Moon trine Person B’s Venus while Person A’s Mercury squares Person B’s Saturn. The first contact can contribute to emotional ease or affection; the second can describe pressure or caution in communication. A useful comparison keeps both patterns visible instead of averaging them into one headline number.
Use the concept in your chart
The fastest way to make this useful is to see the relevant placement or relationship in a calculated chart rather than reading generic descriptions in isolation.
